Beach

Here is the original picture of a beach. I put this into photoshop for me to edit. First of all i added a luxury yacht into the sea using the magic wand tool. I then got rid of the clouds using the clone stamp and added a light in the top corner to make it look like the sun is there. This picture could be used for a story like, top holiday destinations. Here is the edited picture below.

Snow

Here is the original picture i took of the snow and people sledging. I put this picture into photoshop for me to edit. First of all, i used the clone stamp to get rid of the people that are close to the camera. I continued to use the clone stamp to add more people on the hill to make it look busier. I finished this off by changing the brightness. This is to make it more white, and give it a real blizzard effect. This picture could be used in a story about a white christmas or snow records. Here is my edited picture below.

Dog Bin

Here is the original picture of a overfilled dog bin. I put this photo into photoshop for me to edit. I started to think about adding more rubbish to the floor so i could emphasise the fact that the bin is overfilled. I found another picture with rubbish in and cut out the rubbish bags using magic wand. I then added the cut out into my original picture and added it on the floor. I then used a clone stamp to select some grass and add it to the bottom of the rubbish i put in. This is so it looked more natural and it belonged there. To finish off, i cropped the image and changed the brightness and contrast to make the picture a bit brighter. This picture could be used in a story about the amount of litter not being picked up in the local areas. Below is the final edited picture.

Sunset

Here is the original picture that i took of the sunset. I put this photo into photoshop and started to edit it. I decided to enhance the sun so i decided to add more lighting. I put in an orange spotlight where the sun is, which also lit the sky up in a more orange colour. As just having one spotlight made the rest of the picture dark, i added two more spotlights which i put either side but made them white, just so it lit up the scene a bit more. I then cropped and slightly changed the brightness and contrast just to finish it off. This picture could be linked to a story such as, "Best scenic views in your local area" or "British summertime approaches".

Traffic Warden

I edited this picture of a traffic warden by cropping it and changing the contrast and brightness. I did this to bring out the colours more of the traffic warden and emphasise his presence. I managed to capture the moment of the warden writing a parking ticket for a car. You could use this picture for a story like, "Parking Tickets Rise in Crawley" or "Wardens start getting tough in the local area".

Photo Manipulation

Photos have been manipulated in the media for many years to give off many different meanings and opinions towards the picture. In the olden days, during the times of the 2nd world war, pictures were being edited by removing people from the picture, this was done by airbrushing the picture to make it look like the person or a certain object was never there. In recent days this is done more professionally using computers and different softwares. A lot of this is done in pictures of modelling where they've taken the head from one person and put on to a body of another, to make them look better.
Photographs are also cropped to hide certain parts of the picture to change our views and how the picture is represented to us. You can remove the vital object within the decisive moment of the picture which changes the context and the perspective.
Juxtaposition is one image which is placed next to another. This is used to change the meaning of the event completely and also change the concept behind a photo. Different people have a different perspective on the same image which can alter the meaning in many ways.
